Our first tie of the year (38% of the votes each) features two men with completely different wrestling styles: The Mountain of Love and Adam Bomb! It is possible that The Mountain Love would have run away with the voting in this category, if not for his unexpected turn against the MWF at Wrestlemania. Before that incident, The Mountain received the biggest ovation from the crowd in the MWF and was a champion of the MWF's cause that the fans could be proud of. Adam Bomb is loved by all fans everywhere. The children at ringside love to see The Champion of the Underdog, with his bright costumes and terrific crowd interaction. With so few superstars still paying attention to the fans, look for Adam Bomb to dominate this category for quite some time! |

Rugged Ralph formed the New World Alliance proclaiming "MWF Sucks" along with Bobo Bravado and Fiend. Their reign of terror was the driving force behind many feuds and battles in the MWF in 1997. Although most superstars would not be honored to be named the Most Hated Wrestler of the Year, you can bet that the New World Alliance's Rugged Ralph is loving every minute of his win (with 63% of the votes). Rugged Ralph certainly made an impact this year. It all started in late1996 with a vicious assault on MWF superstars by Rugged Ralph and his newly formed NWA, and continued all the way through 1997. Rugged Ralph first convinced former champion Bobo Bravo to join his side, but scored a true coupe by getting the other former champion, Fiend, to turn his back on the MWF. Whether winning his feud against newcomer Double 7 Chris Simmons or holding the United States Title for an unprecedented 2 times, Rugged Ralph has clearly become a hated force in the MWF that may just be here to stay. |

Double-7 Chris Simmons debuted at Middletown Massacre in May and put the MWF on notice that he was going straight to the top. 1997 saw the debut of one of the hottest young superstars to enter the MWF mat wars in some time; Double 7 Chris Simmons, the Rookie of the Year with 75% of the votes. Chris Simmons (or Double 7, as he is more commonly known) made an immediate splash in the MWF, debuting at the 1997 Middletown Massacre against Prince Rocky Iaukea. Before long this excellent ring technician received his first United States Title shot...and won! Although it was short title reign, Double 7 gained a championship faster than any other wrestler in the history of the MWF. Look for this year's Rookie of the Year to be a top contender for next year's Wrestler of the Year! |

This category saw the first (and only) unanimous decision on the part of the fans. The 1997 Tag Team of the Year via 100% vote is The Coalition!! General Nuisance and Private Parts have been arguably the most dominant Tag Team Champions in the history of the MWF, and 1997 was no different. Whether succesfully defending their belts against Mr. Hiamoto and Reverend Ralph Right or taking on the hated NWA at Wrestlemania, the Coalition proved once again beyond a shadow of a doubt who the best team was. Their tremendous tag team coordination and combination of strength moves and mat techniques proved too much for all the tag team competition this year. Look for a bright future from these already dominating superstars. |
