Profile
Big Hick Magee first entered the MWF billed as Hillbilly Hick on a MWF Little
Compton, RI house show and was defeated by the Baked Warrior.
Titles Held
None
Greatest Match: 8/21/98 vs. the Blue Tiger. This was for the Aquidneck
Island Regional championship. Big Hick had BOTH his partner Magpie and brief
associate Chester Travalenee at ringside and came very close to winning his
first singles title with their aid. Chester's presence, however, backfired,
and Big Hick was defeated.
Favorite Match: 10/12/97 vs. Chester Travalenee and the Trekkie. This
was the debut of the Magees and probably the most important milestone Big
Hick HAD to reach. Brutally beat the social misfits and left them laying
marking the first PPV victory in Big Hick's career and the start of the climb
towards respect.
Toughest Opponent: The Reds. The often overlooked tag-team of the
Reds used precision double-teaming tactics and nearly succeeded in beating
the Magees at Spring Fling '98. The Magees would be wise to never underestimate
any opponents in the dynamic MWF.
Most Hated Opponent: Chester Travalenee. Used and abused the MWF
President's nephew for months as part of the Hillbilly revenge that Big Hick
felt he owed President Travalenee for sticking him with an outdated wrestling
gimmick for years.
Favorite Manuever: Magee-Cutter. This double-team version of a
diamond-cutter takes perfect timing and coordination. When executed, it always
spells the end for the unlucky recipient.
Scouting Report
Strengths
: Country Strongman. The big burly Big Hick
is one of the strongest competitors currently in the MWF.
: Experience. Has wrestled against both fan favorites and rulebreakers
during his lengthy MWF career and is familiar with both aspects of ring
psychology.
: Killer Instinct. Since transforming into Big Hick Magee, has forsaken
his hand-slapping, fan-loving roots, and it is hard to argue that he is enjoying
greater success because of it.
Weaknesses
: Hatred of fans. For some reason, carries a huge chip on his shoulder.
For years had been ridiculed by the more serious fans for maintaining an
outdated gimmick. Has not forgotten this now that he has become more harder
edge, and can always be easily riled up by fans heckling him.
: Technically Bereft. Can easily be out-wrestled by the most basic
of wrestling holds. Essentially, a 1-dimensional brawler.
: Limited Mobility. Has had several knee operations thruout
his career, and this has slowed him down greatly. Plodding in the ring.
: Poor Peripheral Vision. Wears glasses into the ring due to this
poor vision.
Career Bio
Big Hick Magee first entered the MWF billed as Hillbilly Hick on a
MWF Little Compton house show and was defeated by the Baked Warrior. ("Fred
Travalenee discovered me when I won the Mageeville Toughman contest. He brought
me to the MWF, gave me a pair of overalls and said he'd pay me big $ to dance
around and act like a maroon. A man can only do that for so long before he
starts to go a little crazy".) Participated at WrestleMania 1990 against
Japanese newcomer Masa Sushi. Sushi easily outmanuevered the country bumpkin
and pinned him. After the match, Sushi added insult to injury by throwing
ceremonial salt into the eyes of Hick, then savagely DDT-ing him. A very
humiliating experience for him. ("I always hated those stinkin' Japs since
my Grandpappy Magee told me about his Pearl Harbor stories.") As a hillbilly
character, was used sparingly by the MWF thruout the years in battle royals
and house shows mainly to entertain the children. ("At first I enjoyed it,
but then, as time wore on, the fans started getting a lot more critical of
wrestlers images".) Began growing tired of both the fan's treatment of him
and his limited career opportunities. In late 1996, was attacked by Rugged
Ralph's NWA group at a Peoria house show and spray-painted. This event seemed
to open the eyes of Hillbilly Hick, as he realized he was going nowhere with
his current attitude. ("Attacked again. Some fans actually CHEERED when I
got whooped. THAT was the LAST time somethin' like that was gonna happen".)
Thus, he returned to Mageeville, his hometown in Buttsauce county in Kentucky
to rethink his career for a few months. ("My cousins needed some lovin',
too".) Then, at WrestleMania 1997, returned renaming himself Big Hick Magee
and brought with him his cousin Magpie Magee and they proceeded to brutally
dismantle the team of Chester Travalenee and the Trekkie to the hardcore
cheers of the new generation of MWF fans. ("They want blood?!? I'll give
'em blood! And if any of 'em get in my face, THEY'LL get bloodied, too".)
In 1998, became a dominant force in the MWF tag-team ranks by defeating several
top teams including the Reds and Adam Bomb & Captain Condom. ("It was
great to finally cut loose".) Interfered in a match between Chester Travalenee
and Justin Sane by slipping a brick into the lunchpail of Chester and bashed
Justin Sane with it, enabling Chester to get the pin. Brought the socially
inept nephew of MWF President Travalenee to have some fun with since the
MWF President had stuck Big Hick with the fan-pandering hillbilly gimmick
for years. ("Yeah. Tearin' up tag-teams wasn't enough. Travalenee had to
pay for the years of torture he put me thru. And we did it by going thru
his geek nephew".) Tortured and belittled the lad and attempted to use him
as a distraction tool for gaining victories against tougher MWF competition.
("We used that freak however we wanted.") However, Big Hick fell ill with
a 108 degree temperature when it came time for the Magees to participate
in the 1998 tag team title tournament. Chester substituted for Big Hick leading
to them being eliminated by the Piemen Simon & Hyman at Summer Showdown
98. ("The Magees should have won the gold. I was kickin' myself for a week
cuz I got sick.") When Big Hick returned to take on the AIR Champion Blue
Tiger, Chester once again caused Big Hick to be defeated, and the association
ended as the Magees administered a Magee-Cutter to Chester after the match
to close out 1998. ("We outsmarted ourselves. The freakazoid was more of
a clutz than we thought. He made us lose!") Hopefully, Big Hick has realized
that if he and his tag-partner Magpie are to win tag titles in the MWF, they
must commit themselves wholeheartedly to that goal.
